All ages welcome! *Contact us for further information on any of our work, and let us know if you want to get involved We would like to thank everyone who participated in our events this Summer, and helped to raise much needed funds. So far Wild Mark has managed to raise funds for the Landmark Foundation, to pay for two GPS collars vital in the protection of leopards and other large predators in the Bavianskloof area of South Africa. Other methods of non-lethal control include fitting livestock wih protective collars to prevent attacks These GPS collars are fitted to leopards with no harm being done. They enable the teams on the ground to track the leopards and compensate farmers for any loss to their stocks if the same leopard was responsible. By co-operating like this with local farmers, the use of gin traps, poisons and other deadly methods of predator control are significantly decreased. The Landmark Foundation is successfully raising awareness of the cruel nature of these methods, and of the importance of large keystone predators in South Africa, and indeed in any ecosystem. For more information on the Landmark Foundation and their predator management please take a look at www.landmarkfoundation.org.za For alternative ways to donate contact us at savealeopard@hotmail.co.uk and we'll aim to reply as soon as possible. |
